What we collect

When you visit this website, our hosting provider automatically records standard server log information including your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time of the request. This is used for security and to keep the site running.

If you contact us by phone, WhatsApp or email, we receive whatever information you choose to send us, such as your name, contact details and the details of your enquiry.

This site uses Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to measure how the site is used. It records pages viewed, the approximate location and device of visitors, and whether the phone number, WhatsApp link or email address on the site was clicked. It does not record who you are, and no personal information you have typed is sent to it. Analytics data is retained for 14 months. Google processes this data on our behalf under its own privacy terms. You can prevent Google Analytics from recording your visit by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser extension, or by blocking cookies in your browser.

Why we process it

To respond to your enquiry, to provide services you have asked for, to keep records required by law, and to keep the website secure. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for marketing purposes.

Who else may see it

Our website host processes server logs on our behalf. Our email provider processes email you send us. Where we provide services to you as a client, our accountant may process invoice and payment records as required for statutory compliance. Each of these is bound to protect that information.

Client account access

Where we work on your advertising or analytics accounts, we access them under permissions you grant. We do not download, copy or retain your customer data, and we surrender all access on request when an engagement ends.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become engagements are kept for up to 12 months. Records relating to client work, including invoices, are kept for 5 years as required by South African tax and companies legislation. Server logs are retained by our host according to their own retention period.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Access to systems holding personal information is protected by strong passwords and, where available, two-factor authentication. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Send any such request to shaun@datumads.co.za and we will respond within a reasonable period.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforeg.org.za, or by email to complaints.IR@justice.gov.za.
